Types of Baby Sleep Furniture
- Crib / Cot: A small bed with railings on all sides, designed for a baby to sleep in. Usually made of hardwood, it's a permanent fixture in the nursery. Cot is the UK term for what Americans call a "crib". In the UK, a cot can also refer to a small, foldable bed for adults. Finding a fitted sheet for this size is the easiest since it's a standard size.
- Mini Crib: A smaller crib that's great for tight spaces, though babies will outgrow them faster.
- Convertible Crib: A crib that can transform into toddler beds, daybeds, or even full-size beds as your child grows. It's a long-lasting option.
- Travel Crib: A lightweight, foldable crib designed for portability. It's ideal for vacations or using at a friend's house. They tend to be smaller and more compact than pack and plays.
- Pack and Play (Playard): Also foldable and portable, but often larger than a travel crib. They can also have features like a bassinet attachment or a diaper changing station, making them more versatile, especially for condominiums with limited space. "Pack and play" is a brand name, while "playard" is a generic term.
- Playpen: A larger enclosed area with mesh sides, designed for playtime. Some pack and plays can convert into playpens by removing the bassinet attachment.
- Co-Sleeper: A bedside crib that drops down on one side and attaches to your adult bed, allowing for safe co-sleeping arrangements.
- Bassinet: A small basket-like bed for newborns up to 4 months. It often has free-standing legs with wheels, making them highly portable. A co-sleeper bassinet has drop-down sides for co-sleeping. Great for tight spaces, though babies will outgrow them faster.
- Cradle: Similar to a bassinet but has fixed legs and designed to provide a rocking motion.
Crib Mattress Size & Recommended Fitted Sheet Size
The following are the mattress sizes of common cribs in the Philippines and the recommended AVA & AVA fitted sheet size.
Mattress sizes are based on published dimensions. Please double-check your actual mattress. Wooden cribs generally have a 28"x52" mattress, while playpens / pack n' plays vary more widely.

* The fitted sheet need not exactly match the mattress:
- If your mattress is smaller: You may simply fold and tuck excess fabric under the mattress. Our fitted sheet’s thick, full garter helps ensure a snug fit.
- If your mattress is larger: Our fitted sheet can stretch by 4" (10 cm) with its thick, full garter and deep pockets for allowance.
Alternative Bed Sheet Options
If your mattress is irregular or significantly different from our two fitted sheet sizes, you may opt for our 100% Organic Bamboo Lyocell Baby Comforter. Since it is designed to be placed on top like a mattress pad, it offers more flexibility in sizing. Some parents also like using this in addition to the fitted sheet, as it's easier to change and can be used for co-sleeping, travel, and as a blanket.
